1. Google Maps
Chances are fantastic you already know what to prepare for with the famed Google Maps. Detailed maps, driving, biking, and walking directions, satellite and tradition map offerings…it's all there. There's voice guided turn-by-turn navigation, one of the most important features in our mobile navigation apps. You also can quickly switch between routes if you need to try to find a quicker or alternate way. There's no denying it, this app has a lot of power and versatility and could possibly make it to the top any list. The iOS version also recently got a chance to filter through restaurants and supply weather information.
2. Waze
Waze was an exceptionally successful startup which was eventually acquired by Google. This app navigation for iPhone (and Android) is targeted on crowdsourcing maps, meaning everyone on Waze works together, inputting information regarding roads, streets, along with the best way to access popular destinations. The result is an app that provides you the most effective navigation options based on what people in the grass think, not some satellite algorithms. You could also add friends and find out their own timetables if you are all meeting on the same place.
3. Navigon
Navigon is a complete iPhone navigation system designed with tons of additional features to make trips easier. There are night and day modes, 2D and 3D maps, route planning, intelligent address searching, and real road sign graphics. Essentially, this app has everything for United States navigation. It also provides a bunch of optional plugins to boost the experience and coordinate entry for additional off-the-wall navigation. This complete group of features comes at a price, however, so this app is just not for those hunting for a free option, but instead a professional navigation tool.
4. Scout
The Scout GPS app was created more for social gatherings and friends than for professional navigation options. It includes a number of social features, including a chat function, a meeting creator that permits you to invite others to a specific location, and collective driving instructions to create sure everyone should know where to go. The app may also give you updates concerning the daily commute so you don't have to endure any unpleasant surprises. Definitely created for the younger, more active crowd, this app has lots of features for urban 20-somethings willing to have fun.

Google Maps as a turn-by-turn nav app for your iPhone is top rated, You've got to be kidding. I could not have an audible voice with Google Maps on my own iPhone 6Plus. I tried every conceivable setting coupled with others work with the problem and reinstall the app. Nothing worked.
The rest of your list is a mystery if you ask me. The TomTom app that came with all the iPhone is a huge flawless guide on recent multi-state trips.

David, it seems apparant that you have a core function issue in iOS. I suggest a clean install then trying. And on a side note, my #1 is Waze, but from what I understand that works better in cities, this type of LA, CA.

Hey Tyler, thank you for writing/sharing this informative article. Getting ready to take a trip to PA (my birth place) to get a wedding. I haven't been back east (we are in the evergray.. oops, I mean the evergreen state) in lots of years and we want to take a drive and explore the spot a little bit. Your article continues to be most helpful in choosing a gps. Thanks again. ~~Shine~~ WA, State

MOTION X was the sole navigation app to use. All other paled compared and frankly I don't know what my husband and I will do without it. Everything about it was absolutely AWESOME. It found streets that other navigation apps like GARMIN could not find.

i totally agree! My husband and I paid for your voice subscription and thought we'd it all. then, the shoe dropped and there is no more MOTIONX. I do wish they might come back! I would pay to the service. It beat the rest out there!!!!
Sadly, MotionX GPS Drive is not really available or meting supported!
Just found that out today myself when I visited renew…Motion-X GPS may be an outstanding navigation app for my wife and I for 4-5 years
