Apple's new iPhone X is making its way to avoid it into the world soon, and are also several new tidbits about the device. Among them is often a change to notification settings: the iPhone X will automatically hide notification previews about the lock screen automagically, something mentioned in Wired's early hands-on while using device.

Now, iOS has received the option to cover up notification previews around the lock screen for a while now, allowing you to show generic notification titles like new message from Facebook” rather than actual previews of messages.

The default out-of-the-box option around the new device

But which was an optional feature which in fact had to be enabled for your more security conscious among us, and even though we've known considering that the announcement how the X might have the feature too, here is the first that we're hearing that it's the default out-of-the-box option about the new device.

Unlocking the iPhone X with Face ID will reveal the notification preview within their usual form, which Wired notes is a helpful method of confirming that Face ID has unlocked the product.
