For sharing, you most probably rely on your instant messenger or email. Instant messaging or emailing pictures is bit cumbersome, especially when you have network issues or data caps. For iOS users, however, they can instantly transfer content (photos, videos, websites, locations, and more) from one iOS device to another iOS device nearby via AirDrop. AirDrop uses Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to transfer content, and is really easy to use once you have learnt how to do it. Mac with OS X Yosemite. Step 1 : To access the AirDrop, you need to swipe up from the bottom of your iPhone or iPad. Turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth from the Control Center. If you have to share content with your contacts, you need to sign in to your iCloud account. Step 2: While switching on the AirDrop, you will get the following options - Off: Turns off AirDrop, Contacts Only: Your device is visible to your contacts only and Everyone: All compatible iOS devices in proximity can see your device. If not really necessary, we will advise you to keep the visibility to Contacts Only. Step 3: AirDrop lets you share content from your Photos, Contacts, Safari and more. To share, tap the content you want to share. Step 4: Tap on the name of the contact/nearby AirDrop user. In case you are unable to see the nearby user, ensure both (sender and receiver) are logged into iCloud account. If the problem still persists, turn AirDrop setting to Everyone. You or the receiver may have to switch off personal hotspot for smooth sharing. Step 5: After you have sent the content, the receiver will get an alert with the preview of what you have shared. The receiver has the option to either accept or decline. After the user taps the accept, the content will open in apps you sent it from, say photos will be displayed in the Photos app, links will open in Safari.
To Airdrop your photos (or other media), tap the device you want to send them to. If you’re sending the photos to a device of yours, they’ll automatically download and save to your device. If you’re sending the photos to someone else, they’ll receive a notification that you’re trying to Airdrop them something. They can then Accept or Decline it. Remember, these same steps apply to other media. It doesn’t have to be photos that you’re sending. On Mac, you can Airdrop any media or file to other Macs or iOS devices, whether yours or someone else's’. To do so, you’ll simply open Finder, locate the items you want to share, and Airdrop them. Open Finder on your Mac. Locate the media and files you want to share. Select them. Hold down the Command key on your Mac keyboard to select multiple. Right click on the highlighted items you want to share. Hover your mouse over Share. If nothing is showing up, wake up the device you’re sending the items to and unlock it. Once you’ve done that, the device should appear as an option. Tap on their name and device to send it.
Same rules apply as above: if you send the items to a device you own, they’ll automatically download and save to your device. If you’re Airdropping files or media to someone else, the recipient will get a notification that you’re trying to Airdrop them something. They can then Accept or Decline it. Check that both of you have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on. If either of you have Personal Hotspot on, turn it off. Make sure that the person you're sending to is nearby. You can't AirDrop to users who are out of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi range. Now you’re ready to use Airdrop. It’s truly one of Apple’s best features. AirDrop is an amazing feature on your iPhone that allows you to send or receive photos, videos, documents and other files from iPhone to Mac and from one iPhone to another. You can also share files between any of the other Apple devices including iPads and Macs. This is an advantageous feature as you can easily share your files quickly. You will not need any account to use this feature. Moreover, you won’t have to sign up for a new account to use it. Only activate the feature from the Control Center and use it. However, on the other hand, sometimes it is not a useful feature. Suppose you don’t frequently use the AirDrop feature on your iPhone but you have accidentally turned it on, and now you are unable to turn it off.
