For iOS users, however, they can instantly transfer content (photos, videos, websites, locations, and more) from one iOS device to another iOS device nearby via AirDrop. AirDrop uses Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to transfer content, and is really easy to use once you have learnt how to do it. Mac with OS X Yosemite. Step 1 : To access the AirDrop, you need to swipe up from the bottom of your iPhone or iPad. Turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth from the Control Center. If you have to share content with your contacts, you need to sign in to your iCloud account. Step 2: While switching on the AirDrop, you will get the following options - Off: Turns off AirDrop, Contacts Only: Your device is visible to your contacts only and Everyone: All compatible iOS devices in proximity can see your device. If not really necessary, we will advise you to keep the visibility to Contacts Only. Step 3: AirDrop lets you share content from your Photos, Contacts, Safari and more. To share, tap the content you want to share. Step 4: Tap on the name of the contact/nearby AirDrop user. In case you are unable to see the nearby user, ensure both (sender and receiver) are logged into iCloud account. If the problem still persists, turn AirDrop setting to Everyone. You or the receiver may have to switch off personal hotspot for smooth sharing. Step 5: After you have sent the content, the receiver will get an alert with the preview of what you have shared. The receiver has the option to either accept or decline. After the user taps the accept, the content will open in apps you sent it from, say photos will be displayed in the Photos app, links will open in Safari.

To Airdrop your photos (or other media), tap the device you want to send them to. If you’re sending the photos to a device of yours, they’ll automatically download and save to your device. If you’re sending the photos to someone else, they’ll receive a notification that you’re trying to Airdrop them something. They can then Accept or Decline it.
