Every iPhone is powered by a lithium-based, internal battery system. Proper battery care improves the lifespan and duration of the battery charge. Familiarize yourself with how your specific iPhone battery functions to get the most out of your device. Applications and games, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections, listening to music, watching videos and talking on the phone all drain the battery system, some more quickly than others. The iPhone provides statistics on the phone's battery life in the Usage menu. Tap the "Settings" icon on the iPhone home screen. Tap “General” when the menu appears. Scroll to the heading for “Time since last full charge” to view current battery statistics. View the time next to "Usage" to see how long the iPhone has been in use since the last full charge. The "Standby" figure indicates the time remaining before the battery is fully drained. Standby mode activates when the phone is idle and uses significantly less battery charge than is required for normal use. Turn the Battery Percentage slider to "On" to display a battery status bar in the upper right corner of each iPhone home screen. Press the “Home” button to exit the Settings menu. If you are in an area without Wi-Fi, turn off your iPhone’s Wi-Fi capability to conserve battery life. Turn off Bluetooth functionality if you do not use a Bluetooth device with the phone.
