Step 6: If you see the Apple logo on your screen, then you have to start all over again as you held the buttons for too long. Otherwise, continue with the steps below. Step 7: Then release the Lock button but keep holding down the volume down button for another 5 seconds. If you see the “Plug into iTunes” screen, then you have held it for too long and have to start all over again. Step 8: If the screen remains black, then it means you have entered DFU mode successfully! The nano-SIM tray on iPhone 5 is placed similarly, on the right side of the phone. Simply use the SIM eject tool or a paper clip to remove it and place your SIM card. To open the SIM tray, simply insert a paper clip or a SIM-ejector tool into the hole and pop it out.
