iOS 5.0.1 Can Be Jailbroken Using iOS 5 Exploit

A day or two back, Chronic Dev Team member an iOS hacker Pod2g revealed a whole new untethered jailbreak solution for iOS 5. He tested it on the third generation iPod Touch running the 5.0 iOS software, but wasn't sure if it would be able to jailbreak the most up-to-date iOS 5.0.1 too.

But, the truth is, the brand new exploit is effective for iOS 5.0.1. The hacker tested the exploit on his iPhone 4 while using final iOS version and posted a happy tweet to express the news while using world. This means that you can now feel free remodel your Apple devices supporting the A4 System-on-Chip design to the most recent firmware.

This appears like good information in case you accidentally upgraded their iDevices to iOS 5.0.1 and lost their unlock, with no possibility to return to iOS 5.0.

It may be worth noting, however, that the solution that Pod2g developed confirmed to work only for iPhones, and iPads equipped with an A4 processor such as the first-gen iPad, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, and Apple TV. iPhone owners who count on the Ultrasn0w unlock still needs to be cautious with upgrading to retain the unlockable baseband.

It is unknown yet perhaps the exploit will work on Apple's devices having a dual-core A5 chip just like the iPad 2 or the newest iPhone 4S.

At the minute, iOS 5 might be tethered jailbroken using Redsn0w, Ac1dSn0w or Sn0wbreeze. If you would like a semi-thered jailbreak on iOS 5, you ought to install the SemiTether patch from Cydia.

And those who are running iOS 5.0.1 are able to use Redsn0w or Ac1dSn0w to get a tethered jailbreak.

Nifty Way of Unlocking iPhone 4S without Modifications in Software or Hardware

Unfortunately, as the majority of you have experienced firsthand, unlocking a fresh iPhone is just not an easy task. A few years back, when the iPhone just arrived on the scene, software unlocking was much simpler and there was no need to ask the carrier to unlock the iPhone or utilize the GEVEY card with all the dubious legal status.

But it seems that the situation using the freshest Apple smartphone, the iPhone 4S, is unique. An unknown hacker released a technique that allegedly provides for unlocking Apple's latest device without any modifications in software or hardware. Unfortunately, this miraculous unlocking procedure works only for AT&T devices.

Now, you should beware that we haven't tested using this method yet and you will be acting on your own personal responsibility. But if you have an interest, you need to keep reading.

Step 1: Place your AT&T SIM card into your iPhone 4S, it I's not there already.

Step 2: Dial 611 (AT&T Customer Service) and drop the phone call. After that, put your iPhone into Airplane Mode.

Step 3: Insert the T-Mobile SIM rather than the AT&T one.

Step 4: 'Forget' all wireless networks with automatic connection.

Step 5: Go from Airplane mode.

Step 6: If all things have gone well and EDGE network has activated, as it should, you will notice "E" on the top-left corner of the iPhone's touchscreen.

Step 7: Switch your iPhone 4S off after 20-30 seconds and then turn it back on.

Step 8: When you see a signal bar, press Use Cellular Connection.

Step 9: Take out your SIM and turn your iPhone on. You should understand the "Activation Required" screen.

Step 10. Insert your T-Mobile SIM once again, and your iPhone 4S ought to be unlocked.

It is especially probable that At&T will close this loophole soon but until it does that, you can give using this method a try.

Jailbreak Solution for iOS 5.0.1 Already Released

As you almost certainly know at this point, iOS 5.0.1 was published six days ago. The new beta version will not have any additional features but fixes performance bugs and is also available to developers to date. Supposedly, iOS 5.0.1 don't has the battery drain problem, fixes the bug that caused the iPad 2 Smart Cover security flaw and features additional security enhancements.

So if you're a developer and wish to jailbreak your newly updated iPhone with iOS 5.0.1, you will probably be glad to learn that a jailbreak solution was launched a day as soon as the iOS 5.0.1 launch. The iPhone Dev-Team was the first person to present Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 that work well its magic on the newest firmware version and jailbreaks your iOS device.

Hacker iH8sn0w, the person behind the widely used Sn0wbreeze jailbreak tool, followed which has a jailbreak solution each day later. Besides jailbreaking the iPhone, Sn0wbreeze 2.8b9 also fixes the iBooks sandbox crashing problem allows for re-flashing the iPad baseband around the iPhone 3GS.

Unfortunately, both solutions are limited to a tethered jailbreak so that you will have to plug you iDevice in a computer each time you power it well to be capable of use it again.

Luckily, there a partial fix for this problem - a Cydia tweak called SemiTether which permits rebooting your iOS 5.0.1 tethered iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch device in a semi-usable state. And though you can find full usability only after connecting to a computer, it's still a nice feature.

Redsn0w 0.9.9b6 Enables iOS 5 Jailbreak and Fixes Previous Issues

The relentless effort of the iPhone Dev-Team has had some pretty good results. The hackers have developed a fresh version of Redsn0w that only enables jailbreaking iOS 5 and fixes a Location Services issue for the iPhone 3GS with baseband 06.15.00 in the process.

The launch of Redsn0w 0.9.9 came a couple of days after the relieve Redsn0w 0.9.9b5 for iPhone users while using Mac operating system and was the first solution for the new iOS.

You might wonder, why iPhone Dev-Team chose to launch a whole new version, given a tethered jailbreak was already covered. If you've got already jailbroken your iPhone, you don't must bother with re-jailbreaking your iPhone. But if you have not yet, many times Redsn0w 0.9.9 more useful compared to the previous version because it fixes the Location Services bug that might cause a network crash to the iPhone 3GS with baseband 06.15.00.

As sad because it is, a tethered solution only is available for that iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch up to now. It means that each time you reboot your device, you will need to connect it in your computer and re-jailbreak yet again. What's even sadder, this software does not offer the iPhone 4S and also the iPad 2.

It remains unknown when an untethered jailbreak will likely be released but, according on the previous report according to i0n1c' Twitter messages and Chronic Dev-Team's statements with the recent jailbreak convention, it will come pretty soon.

Untethered Jailbreak Solution for iOS 5 Already in Progress

With the launch of iOS 5 scheduled for this week, what iPhone users all over the world are wondering whether an untethered jailbreak for iOS will be and, if it lets you do, when and just how.

Sure, Redsn0w and Sn0wbreeze previously prepared a tethered jailbreak to the newest Apple iOS version, but it is not nearly as desirable just as one untethered jailbreak which allows you to reboot your iPhone without needing to re-jailbreak it each time.

German security researcher Stefan Esser, better known as i0n1c, hinted on the near chance for an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 in the message on his Twitter account, proclaiming that it has been already 'covered by other people'. And understanding his close relationship with all the Chronic Dev Team, one can possibly almost surely claim that, by 'other people', he means them.

It is not hard to believe, since Chronic Dev Team hacker Joshua Hill (or P0sixninja) claimed that his group had located five exploits in Apple's fresh iOS at long last month's 'MyGreatFest', the biggest jailbreak convention for hackers, developers and coders. Plus, this team already has a great achievement under its belt - it is often responsible for the only untethered jailbreak solution for iOS 4.2.1.

And though we understand that exploits are certainly not always accompanied by untethered jailbreak solutions, coming from your man who found the exploit to have an untethered solution for iOS 4.3.1, this tweet is an extremely good sign. We will know whether Stefan's words are true inside a few weeks.

iPhone 5 to get Presented by Tim Cook on October 4

According to Apple, the next-gen iPhone will be unveiled by new Apple CEO Tim Cook on October 4. According to many rumors, the modern iPhone will end up available a few weeks after the launch

We will hardly understand the details prior to the company presents its new device, but, so far, you will find three versions of how the next-generation iPhone will appear. Some state that Apple will probably release a low-cost version with the iPhone 4 for people who are not needing to shell out a lot of money for a pricy smartphone while some believe that the company will launch the iPhone 4S, a greater version for that iPhone 4 that might supposedly have a dual-core A5 chip much like the one employed in iPad 2. There is also a viewpoint that Apple will release a top-notch device with a new design, more random access memory (RAM), the A5 chip, longer battery and a camera with more megapixels.

The long-awaited event that will probably be held in eight days is very important for Apple and also the company's new executive director, Tim Cook. The new CEO is expected to deliver an integral note with Apple's senior vice presidents Scott Forstall and Phil Schiller. It will apt to be the first time since the launch in the iPhone when Steve Jobs won't be for the stage to present the modern device.

iOS 5 is probably going to get released together with the brand new smartphone. It would be a nice if an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 would become available right as soon as the release, but we're going to probably need to settle for the tethered iOS 5 jailbreak with the early stages.

Change Font Size up or Down on iPhone Using Jailbreak Tweak

For individuals who have problems with eyesight, the iPhone provides a way to zoom the text using a small font size. Sure, you can zoom in the written text by performing the reverse pinch - spread your thumb and forefinger apart after placing them together, but doing it whenever to read the text is just not exactly convenient.

What in case you were capable of go one or a few sizes up without fuss as it is possible to do in text editing programs, And while Apple will not provide this feature yet, some smart developers have already thought of this and made a jailbreak tweak that provides for doing that. After installing this application with all the name 'Magnifier for Safari', just press 'Share' then 'Adjust FontSize' in Safari to get access to a slider that will enable you to improve or limit the font size.

This application will sure help make your life easier, without having sliding and unpinching. Certainly, you should jailbreak your iPhone first to increase the written text seize on Safari pages if you might have not done it already.

We wonder how Safari will improve when new iOS 5 is released. This web surfing client may be very reliable before but a noticable difference would not hurt as some features that other browsers have would make it better. It does not seem likely it would get a feature that does something similar to this application but we just ought to see exactly what the iPhone 5 with iOS 5 will bring.

For now, it's known that Safari will have a new feature, Safari Reader, that can be capable of present just the written text of a page without featured images or another elements. The iOS 5 browser will also possess a Reading List that will include webpages that you would like to read later. Safari will also acquire tabs in iOS 5, which will be quite a useful improvement.

Teen Hacker Gets Job at Apple

19-year-old hacker Nicholas Allegra who is probably better known on the Internet world as Comex has landed an internship at Apple, as outlined by his words. The youngster who had been instrumental in having a jailbreaking program to the iPhone announced that he will be working for your iPhone makers just as one intern via Twitter.

Last year, Nicholas created a program that allowed for downloading applications not authorized by the organization that has employed him - Apple. But, apparently, after some time, the hacker got tired of his creation and chose to find new things - work for your company whose product he helped to compromise.

However, the teenager still does not think that they did anything bad. According to him, a jailbreak simply allows to perform applications and features that are not approved by Apple. It doesn't make the iPhone operate slower or make the battery discharge faster. Plus, a jailbreak might be undone in case you restore your iPhone.

And the federal government seems to agree with Mr. Nicholas. Last year, jailbreaking was allowed by legislation, becoming the very last in the string of exemptions from your 1998 U.S. law that bans bypassing technical limitations imposed by companies to prevent people from unauthorized usage of their products.

Apple failed to give any discuss whether Nicholas has been hired or otherwise not which proves that Allegra has indeed been employed by the company.

Apple Fixes Security Vulnerability in iOS 4.3.5, But Jailbreak Still Possible

Ten days after releasing iOS 4.3.4., Apple launched iOS 4.3.5 to fix a security vulnerability linked to certificate validation. The previous version was in short supply of perfect - it allowed malicious hackers to utilize the security vulnerability to eavesdrop on secure communications. iPhone owners who used public WiFi were especially vulnerable.

The 4.3.4 version also had a burglar alarm hole allowing hackers to corrupt the iPhone and control it remotely through malicious PDF files, though Apple created patch just for this problem before releasing iOS 4.3.5.

So if you've got the iPhone 3GS, GSM iPhone 4, iPad or 3rd or 4th gen iPod Touch, you are able to probably improve your iOS version to tighten your security. Apple also released an enhanced mobile operating-system for the CDMA iPhone, iOS 4.2.10. You can download the update via iTunes by hitting Check for Update, keep in mind.

Launching this new mobile os, Apple also hoped to fix the vulnerability in iOS which allows jailbreaking. However, the business's hopes never materialized as there already can be a jailbreaking solution because of this version even though it comes using a few strings attached.

Only a tethered jailbreak can be done, which means that you must connect the device to some computer and jailbreak it each time you reboot it. There is no sense in developing an untethered jailbreak for firmware that may go away from date in a very month or two. Developers are investing each of their mental resources in working on a jailbreaking solution for iOS 5 that is going to be launched this fall.

Apple Selling Unlocked iPhone 4

Rumors regarding the unlocked iPhone 4 taking place sale proved to be true. As reported, Apple GSM iPhone 4s became accessible in Apple stores and internet-based. But you need to think very difficult before rushing to Apple stores to buy the brand-new phone.

The 16 GB model from the unlocked iPhone 4 is available for $649 whilst the 32 GB model is $100 higher priced. In the meantime, a similar versions with the locked iPhone 4 are around for $199 and $299.

It isn't the only downside of the modern unlocked iPhone 4. If you plan on using T-Mobile's GSM and GPRS network, it will be impossible. This carrier uses a faster 3G network which is incompatible with all the iPhone. This ensures that you will have to settle for your EDGE network that is much slower.

Apparently, Apple's promises that this brand-new unlocked iPhone 4 will likely be compatible with GSM carriers are not entirely true. AT&T will remain the only option unless you utilize the phone abroad with international mobile network operators. Verizon can also be out of picture as it supports only CDMA.

Another drawback is the unlocked iPhone is going to be incompatible with iPad's micro-SIM card. But what's probably most confusing about the modern Apple product is the iPhone 5 will be reportedly launched in September. And taking on at least $649 ten weeks before a new model is released does not seem very wise.

It works out that the brand new unlocked iPhone 4 is really a good choice only for individuals who often go abroad and want to make use of international carriers instead of paying exorbitant roaming fees.

Apple Rumored to Release SIM-Less iPhone 4S in Late Summer and Totally Upgraded iPhone 5 in Spring 2012

A Japanese site reports that that Apple will probably release a fresh iPhone model, the iPhone 4S, sometime late summer (between July and August).

The new phone will supposedly stop very distinct in the current iPhone. According to these rumors, the new model will likely be compatible both with GSM and CDMA for AT&T and Verizon carriers. Right now, Apple is producing different models with the iPhone for GSM and CDMA.

The most shocking rumor concerning the upcoming model is that this Mac maker is considering the chance for getting rid with the SIM card. Everybody knows that Apple is usually looking for approaches to revolutionize the globe, combine as much components as possible into small devices and remove parts the corporation can manage without. Apparently, Apple has become considering the possibility of getting rid of the SIM card and replacing it by having an e-SIM. However, according on the reports, the organization abandoned this idea for now due to many security breaches who's might cause. But things are all possible using the company that was the first to drop the technique of including built-in floppy drives rolling around in its computers.

The quantity of rumors regarding the iPhone in the future has significantly increased lately which might be a sign that it is going to be launched soon. A week ago, a picture of your supposed back plate with the upcoming iPhone was revealed. It looked just as the one for the current iPhone nonetheless its camera hole is at another place. One of the reasons because of this change may be that Apple decided to opt for any camera with 8 megapixels rather than the current 5-megapixel camera.

The new model will also supposedly undergo a hardware upgrade. It is unknown yet whether its chip will probably be single or dual core. But with the most recent Android phones having a dual-core chip, Apple should keep up in order not to be left behind inside competition unless they wish to push the cost down.

Besides the iPhone 4S, Apple is rumored to release an iPhone 5 next spring that's quite an exceptional date for an iPhone launch. There have not been many reports concerning this model yet.

Q & A For iPhoneSimFree Users and 1.1.1 iPhone Update

Seems there is often a bit of confusion about our last post. Here are some from the most common questions, with many corresponding answers.

Q. Why do you say it is unlocked if you can't activate a non AT&T sim,

A. There is a difference between unlocking and activation. Unlocking is in connection with GSM standards and allowing a sim to become used on different carriers, and activation is one area made up by apple to help expand restrict their users. After upgrading to a single.1.1 the radio from the phone is still unlocked, meaning it can still connect to other carriers, but apple requires the device be activated to do this.

Q. How do you know it really is unlocked if it is possible to't activate,

A. There are several ways to know this. Firstly, the phone will not report "Incorrect SIM". Secondly the IMEI is correct. Thirdly should you bring up the area test, you can see the provider isn't AT&T. And finally (and coolest of all), there are ways to actually on-site visit and receive calls through the emergency call screen. If you may get the baseband to crash (we all do it by calling some emergency numbers without any sim available) then insert the non AT&T sim, it may pick up a transmission and calls (non-emergency) may be placed and received from your emergency call screen about the non AT&T carrier.

Q. Why does pretty much everything matter, if I can't yet use a non AT&T sim,

A. A few reasons. Firstly the phone can continue to be employed by AT&T users after upgrade. Secondly, if apple has patched the techniques used to perform the unlock, as long as a possible activation way is discovered, the phone works perfectly on other carriers. With other unlocking solutions, if you were to upgrade the device it would currently be considered a brick, if apple has patched the strategy to perform the unlock, it will also stay a brick forever..

News concerning iPhone 1.1.1 Update

We have successfully completed a test from the 1.1.1 firmware update on IPSF unlocked phones. We are happy to report the phones are still fully unlocked, and should you are using an original activated AT&T sim, you'll be able to activate and utilize the phone without having issues in any respect. Unfortunately, currently there is no method to jailbreak/reactivate the phone for use using a sim card other as opposed to original AT&T card. Therefore for your customers who've no immediate need to use alternate providers and remain using their AT&T card, you are welcome to update your phone. For the rest please be patient, because jailbreak issue is something that affects much more than exactly the unlocking. The a huge number of open source developers who have put a cumulative 10s of 1000s of man hours into various apps and tools are in possession of no strategy to get them onto the phone as well. We are all looking into the jailbreak issue since it affects everyone, and we will keep updating our site as well as the open source community most importantly with any information we can relating to this.

The 004999010640000 issue (Resellers please be aware):

004999010640000 is really a special IMEI number reported back by way of a phone in "lockdown" mode. We have seen video few times mostly with regards to other unlocking methods. We are currently updating our servers to support new customers needing to recover their phones from lockdown mode, yet it's essential that this REAL IMEI of the phone is given to our servers, in any other case the server will not likely issue the unlock. The real IMEI may be found engraved for the back in the phone or about the back of the retail box. We will update our site once the Servers are already updated to correct lockdown phones.
