You may want to hide stock apps on iPhone or iPad in case the stock app icons are taking up space on the home screen of your device and cluttering the view. By default stock apps like Safari, Camera, FaceTime, iTunes Store, Weather, Videos, Apple Maps and Photos are automatically placed on the home screen of your iPhone and iPad. These apps cannot be uninstalled and cannot be taken off from the home screen, unless you decide to jail break your device. While you may not want to hide stock apps like Apple Maps, Photos and Videos from the home screen, there are many other stock apps that you may never use. For example, Apple Watch is a stock app that is useful only when you have an Apple Watch, those who do not use an Apple Watch may want to hide it from their home screen. As mentioned above, you will have to bear the risks of jailbreaking your device in order to be able delete stock apps from your device.
However, in case you do not want a jailbroken iPhone (which is not advisable for most users), there are some other ways to get rid of stock iOS apps from the home screen of your iPhone and iPad. We will be discussing here 2 methods of hiding Stock App Icons, these methods work on iPhone, iPad and all iOS 9 devices. In this first method we will be hiding stock app icons by enabling restrictions on your iPhone or iPad. On your iPhone or iPad open up the Settings. Next tap on General from the Settings. Now tap on Restrictions from the General Settings page. Now you will be required to enter your Restrictions passcode in case you had enabled Restrictions before. If you have not yet enabled restrictions then tap on Enable Restrictions and create a Restrictions passcode. Now underneath the heading Allow toggle off the apps that you want to hide from the home screen. Once you have toggled off the apps click on the home button and you will see those apps gone from the home screen. Note: You need to be aware that above method will both clear the apps from the home screen and also disable all services associated with those apps. Hence, this method is limited and you can make use of this method to hide only those apps that you are pretty sure about not using. Another method to hide stock app icons from the home screen of your iPhone is to make use of nested folders. This unconventional method allows you to move folders within folders on your iOS device.
To ensure that you get the most from the apps installed on your iOS device, you need to update them. Some apps compel you to update to the latest version by preventing you from using them until they are updated. There are two ways to update the iOS apps on your gadget: You can either update them from your device using the App Store or from iTunes. This tutorial covers both ways of updating the applications on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. Go to your iPhone’s Home screen. From the Home screen, open the App Store. Tap on the Updates button located on the lower-right part of the App Store’s home screen. You can tap on the Update All button to update all the apps on your device. Note that once you tap on the Update All button, the updates will automatically start to download. The only way to cancel the updates for all the apps is by going through each app and canceling each download individually.
You also have the option to update your apps one at a time. You can tap on the Update button found on the right side of an app to update only the selected iOS app. Wait for the update to finish. You will know that the update is complete once the button next to the app changes to OPEN. You have completed the update of your iOS app. Open iTunes from your computer or Mac. From iTunes, click on the iPhone icon. Your device’s details will be shown. This indicates that your iPhone is connected to your iTunes. Tap on the App store icon in your iTunes. Click on an app that you want to update. Right-click on the selected app. Tap on the Update App option to update your apps. Tunes will start downloading updates for the selected apps. Click on the download button on the right side of the iTunes screen to view the status of the download. Wait for the download to complete, and you are done.
