hard reset iphone
If you’re fortunate enough to have the money to buy an iPhone X, you’re in quite an exclusive club right now. Apple’s flagship phone has sold very well considering it’s price tag and there are many hundreds of satisfied owners out there all enjoying the latest Apple handset. I know one user who was so happy to get his iPhone X that he spent an entire day loading apps just to see how much better they ran on his flagship phone. While he didn’t have to factory reset, he did have to soft reset a couple of times.

The iPhone X is Apple’s newest phone that is known mainly for it’s price rather than its abilities. That’s a shame as the phone looks fantastic and performs well too. Yes it may still be lagging behind the Samsung Galaxy S8 in terms of raw power but in the realm of iPhones, it’s the current king of the hill.

The screen alone really does have to be seen to be believed. The 5.8 inch Super AMOLED screen is crystal clear, bright and viewable in any light. The touchscreen is sensitive enough to respond instantly but not too much to be twitchy. Sounds is pretty good too considering this is a phone. Face recognition seems like it was released a little too early from what I saw of it on its first day but that will likely improve with updates.

Overall, the iPhone X is a solid smartphone although that price seems very hard to justify. If you experiment a little too vigorously or otherwise need to reset the iPhone X back to factory defaults, you can. Also known as a hard reset, the factory reset will erase all of your data from the phone. That means all your contacts, messages, photos, videos and any file or media you may have stored on it. Before you hard reset your iPhone X, make sure to back up everything you want to keep onto iTunes.

You can then reload it all once done. There are three ways I know of to factory reset the iPhone X. Through the menu, hardware keys and iTunes. The easiest way I think to reset the iPhone X is through the Settings menu. 2. Navigate to Settings, General and Reset. 3. Select Erase All Content and Settings. 4. Confirm your choice.

You may have to authenticate with the phone again to confirm a factory reset, you may not. When I saw it done, the confirmation was followed by an information popup and then iOS began the reset. The process took a minute or two and included a reboot. I haven’t seen this method carried out but have been assured that it works. 2. Connect it to your computer via cable and open iTunes. 3. Turn off the phone.

4. Press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds and let go. 5. Immediately press and hold the Volume Down and Power Button for a further 10 seconds. 6. Release the Power button while still holding the Volume Down button. 7. iTunes should alert you that a device is now running Recovery Mode. 8. Release Volume Down. From recovery mode you can apparently force a factory reset.

As you back up your iPhone X with iTunes, it makes sense to hard reset it using it too. 2. Connect it to your computer via cable and open iTunes. 3. Once iTunes detects your phone, select iPhone from the menu. 4. Select the Summary tab. 5. Select Restore iPhone.

Confirm your choice and iTunes will wipe the phone and restore vanilla iOS. The phone will reboot and you will be back to default settings and should see the Slide to set up screen you first saw when you unboxed. It takes a lot to need a full hard reset of any phone, let alone the new iPhone X. Yet if you’re an inveterate experimenter like my friend, you are likely to need one at some point. At least now you know how to do it!

Enter the word “delete” into the box which is provided and click on the “Erase now” button. 6 - Now that you’ve approved the erasing process, Dr.Fone will begin. Always take a backup of the data on your device, you may regret it if you don’t. After you have reset your iPhone, you are provided with a few options. You are able to restore data from a previous backup, or you can treat your iPhone as if you had just purchased it.
